The Rundown: The Republic sends its deadliest weapon to hunt down a mutant threat that threatens their order.

In the skies over the Eurasian Republic, a plane prepares to release a dangerous and deadly cargo. Cargo that has a dark history with the Republic and its leaders after he was captured, tortured and experimented on by them and their scientists. Experiments that turn him into a soulless killer designed to destroy any opposition.

Raven and Kurt are members of the Opposition, a group of mutants who resist the Republic. Their secret base is the target of this walking weapon who descends upon them leaving no one alive in his wake. A weapon with a familiar face to Kurt. A weapon who used to be his friend.

The Story: Condon crafts a dark, moody and brilliantly intense story in this first issue. It hits all the marks for a great introduction to this new version of a familiar character. There is great action throughout the issue and a wonderful buildup of both suspense and terror as the story progresses. Condon creates some dark moments throughout this issue while also teasing some even darker reveals to come. I enjoyed everything about this issue and having the character completely silent throughout it adds menace to him and everything he does. Great debut issue that has me excited to see what direction they take this story next.

The Art: Cappuccio delivers exciting, bold and beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The hard lines of the art perfectly capture the tone and mood the story is setting and every panel and page builds on the tension of the story.
